French Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy got a boost to his campaign several days ago when Christine Boutin, the leader of the Forum of Social Republicans (FRS) party, said she would not run for the presidency and instead support Sarkozy. Now the Sarkozy camp is announcing that she will be an advisor to his campaign.
According to her Wikipedia page, Boutin has been accused of homophobia in the past because she opposed a plan to create "civil-unions" for any couple regardless of sex. At the end of the day this really doesn't matter, although the appearance that the right has more or less lined up behind his candidacy will help Sarkozy in the general election.
