Hulot's favorability soars

If French celebrity ecologist Nicolas Hulot is still looking for reasons to run for president, he should look no more. New polls show that Hulot is seen as favorable by a full 89% of the French population, paling in comparison with 69% for Segolene Royal and 56% for Nicolas Sarkozy. Defense Minister Michele Alliot-Marie saw here favorability rise to 58%, and President Jacques Chirac to 44%, perhaps providing the impetus for an independent presidential bid.

In terms of specific issues, 27% believe that unemployment should be given top priority, followed by purchasing power, education, and social protection.
