Bayrou soars to 24% in new poll
It may be a fluke, but a new CSA poll conducted today shows UDF candidate Francois Bayrou gathering 24% of the first round votes. In the same poll, UMP candidate Nicolas Sarkozy receives 26% and Socialist candidate Segolene Royal 25%.
Since the last CSA poll of February 28, this represents a 7 point rise for Bayrou, equaled out by a three point fall for Sarkozy and a four point fall for Royal. As I said before, this is likely somewhat of a fluke, and the Ipsos daily barometer still shows Bayrou around 19%. However, even if a few points off, this is still a monumental step for Bayrou, and this very may well become a true three horse race.
