Belga News Agency is reporting that UMP candidate Nicolas Sarkozy and Socialist candidate Segolene Royal will be in the presidential runoff. No exact numbers yet.
You can see updates of the results at top right. I'm not going to publish them as posts right now because some of these may be agglomerated on French sites.

As french, i can't have a connection on the rtbf's site.
Strange, isn't it?
Heh, let's hope French regulators aren't learning from their internet counterparts in China.
Boz
me too i can't get any connection on rtbf site , i am french too.
But I hope Royal will not win today !
We're sorry, but the application is temporarily out of resources.
Apparently tsr.ch has been swamped by people eager to know the surveys.
impossible acces to belgian websites from France.... poor democracy...
I get this error on rtbf site :
Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
it is a so-called democraty
i think they don't want any spoilers.
Aaah the admnistration ^^
I guess I now have at least one good reason to be stuck in the US...clear internet. However, I've been trying to get to lesoir.be and it's been hung up all morning (here).
Yes it is quite sad. Governments have always wanted to impose national borders on the Internet, and sometimes the temptation is just too strong...
sarko --> % 26 to 30
sego--> %24 to 27
bayrou --> % 16 to 20
Remember, in 2002, survey's are wrong, so why not in 2007 ^^.
HI,
I can't access Belgian or swiss sites from the UK.
numbers i gave were not a survey... 8-)
Let's not be paranoid... Maybe those websites are just overworked...
What's the point anyway? Not knowing the first estimates won't make me vote for Sarko!
I found this site on Reuters but can't get in, probably swamped:
http://www.jeanmarcmorandini.com
He is a rogue journalist that said would publish unofficial results before 8 PM in his blog
me two, very strange!! lesoir, and a lot of them, swiss ones two...
even lecho.be
To Boz :
The Guardian confirmed : http://www.guardian.co.uk/france/story/0,,2063145,00.html
And a poll from a suiss newspaper :
http://www.letemps.ch/
I'm living in france and it is impossible to access belgian websites from here or Spain and Great Britain according to friends living there.
Piktor, I believe that blogger backed down the other day and decided not to publish. I wonder if the 75,000 euros fine had something to do with it...
Amazing how many sites are swamped. There's a lot of interest in this election from various parts of the world. Should be reassuring to the French that their country is still considered important.
Btw I'm copying the results shown here onto my blog (obviously giving credit). Any problems with that?
Morandini is as swamped as the other websites, there are just millions of us trying to get the results before 8.00p.m....
hi there
i'm french and have full access to the site ...Belgian paper site "le soir" is not available though ... it's such a pity to believe i might vote according to some estimates i don't know anything about ! sometimes our authorities regard us as children ...which we are, true ;-(
Should Sarkozy and Royal go to the second round, this would confirm most of polls we've had for weeks (mind that, could we have reliable polling institutes now ?)
whatever the results, the good news is the record high number of voters (my station was teeming with people this morning some 15 minutes after opening hour); it's a strong feeling to see that people are not that disinterested in politics as they were reported to be by media
Burma from paris XV
Resultats officiels :
Sarko
Sego
Le Pen (18%)
Bayrou
Living in Belgium, I can't access to rtbf site either. Too much traffic. Don't be so paranoid, guys...
even from Montreal(Canada) we cannot ... so don't think anything wrong. Servers cannot handle unlimited request at the same time, there is nothing strange in that. But just be patient !!! Waiting few minutes for the "official" result will not make any differences.
estimation présidentielle

Aaah... someone's being reasonable!
The times : http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article1689536.ece
I mean Roger and Vincelf are being reasonable... Not the French voters!
Sarkozy and Royal are on the second round. Le Pen is third with around 18% of the poll. Bayrou is fourth
You'd think they'd plan for the overcapacity, especially considering the artificially imposed competitive advantage all these foreign sites have.
Obviously, it does not display properly.

SARKOZY 25%
ROYAL 23%
From someone who's working in french TV
Sarkozy 30.3
royal 2.8
please give source of information
Thanks for the info Exodus although I'm not going to post it just because of the nature of the source. Would you mind telling what news agency, just out of curiosity?
friend from tv
Belgian and Swiss sites are to be overbooked, therefore nothing to have with democracy ! but technology !!!!
Boz, an Ipsos exit poll gives Sarko 28% Royal 25% :
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/article1689936.ece
you can access Belgium sites and the latest estimates via Flemish site like www.vrtnieuws.net
...those are completely from access
i was able to access morandini's website once...it's just very busy.
okay each source give the same results
sarkozy and royal will be in second round
Hi, I'm French. I've found some results on www.letemps.ch :
1 - Sarkozy : 30.0%
2 - Royal : 25.5%
3 - Bayrou : 19%
4 - Le Pen : 11%
Sounds good... ;o))

I adjusted them on the board, thanks.
Yep piktor, it's up. Too bad they didn't give the other numbers yet, the more the merrier.

anybody but royal!
Anybody but Sarko...
Let's just agree: anyone but Le Pen.
Right-oh!
anybody but sarko....the fascist....
You can go on www.letemps.ch which has launched a temporary index with estimated results.
At the time :
Sarkozy 30
Royal 25.5
Bayrou 19
Le Pen 11
I don't think we're censured but only the broadband of belgian websites is overwhelmed.
Very best.
I'd tend to choose Sarko
Well, no offence intended, but I'm glad you're not French... You might well get your wish on the 6th of May, though.
Talking to Mike... Sorry Exodus, that was not for you!
Hehe Tatanka, none taken. Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion.
If on the 6th the French decide to choose the communist Royal (and thus ensure French economy will not improve), then your opinion will have been proved the most popular.
:)
Royal is not communist at all ! Sarkozy will prove to be dangerous.
The EU does not need another Socialist leader. What it needs is a strong France that is ready to get back on its feet and galvanise the EU to greater glories (hehe). I understand that some of Sarko's comments were imprudent but his populist streaks will be turned down once he's (hopefully) in power.
enigmatikmike: I like irony, too ;-))...
But I must say I don't like Royal a lot, either. And as for her being a communist... oh, my! You really think so??
Maybe I'm just paranoid Tatanka, and see communists everywhere. However all her talk of state intervention and state doing this and that (whilst very French ;) ) worryingly paints a picture of a leader controlled by Communist instincts, if not politics.
"The EU does not need another Socialist leader..."
Why are you so sure of what EU needs?
Celine, as an EU member too am I not entitled to at least that opinion?
enigmatikmike: "very French" ;-), yes, you're probably right here. But I don't see Royal becoming a Red Menace once elected. She pretty much CHOSE the left over the right for TACTICAL reasons when she was in school. She's just saying the right thing to get elected, and she'll do whatever it is she really believes in once elected. She's not a left-wing politician in my - modest - opinion.
Hopefully you are right. :)
YOU THINK that EU needs...Maybe you're wrong. A strong France does it automaticly means chicken Little for president?
Thanks for all the info and comments guys (and gals). I hope you stay around the next two weeks, but if not, be sure to come back to help find out the final vote on May 6.
Boz
Thanks for your blog, Boz: it was the only source of info I was able to access. Good evening!
She's not a left-wing politician in my - modest - opinion? And thats unfortunetly right in my also modest opinion.... I'm agree
Thank you Boz. Very well run. And I really enjoyed the discussion here in the comments. Have a Good day! (for you, evening for me)
Good blog! it's true. Thank you for it. Good news and sources.
I'll be back the 6th of May
Bye.
Bonne nuit tatanka, celine. We'll continue this discussion another time. ;)
Sure thing! See ya on the 6th, if not earlier. I've had a look at your blog... Gosh, you really DO like the little...er, "man" ;-))
I may have exaggerated on the pictures a bit. *blush* I'm not that great a supporter as the post would lead one to believe.
